The Women’s Fund of Greater Cincinnati Foundation is our region’s expert on the status of women’s economic self-sufficiency. Through leadership, research and policy advocacy, the Women’s Fund works to identify and address employment barriers affecting working women and their families by focusing on child care, employment, living wage, training and education opportunities.
Expanding women’s access to economic mobility is imperative, as women are disproportionately affected by poverty, tend to hold jobs in low-paying sectors and bear greater responsibility for caregiving in their family. In fact, in our region, nearly 20% of women are living in poverty, and of the children in poverty, 74% of them live in a single female-headed household. If we help improve the circumstances that led to these women working in poverty, we believe it will generate positive outcomes for our entire community.
